Volunteer client needed
I am looking for a volunteer client to help me record a video to demonstrate my EMDR skills for the purpose of EMDR Accreditation. The video footage will be seen by me and my EMDR Consultant only, and will be destroyed as soon as it is no longer needed.
You will be asked to participate in a maximum of 4 EMDR sessions, which will take place in-person at Pure Offices, St Georges, Weston-super-Mare at a mutually convenient time. The primary purpose of the sessions is for me to demonstrate each phase of the EMDR protocol. However, I hope that through successfully processing a past traumatic or upsetting event, you will benefit from the sessions too.
Safety first
For safety reasons, because the work is time-limited, it is important that you do not have a history of abuse or severe neglect, that your present life is stable and that you have a good support network. You should not have any addictions and must not be taking benzodiazepines. Other medications, such as antidepressants are not a problem. I will ask you to complete a couple of short questionnaires to assess your suitability for EMDR and to sign a declaration to say that you understand the risks and benefits of participating. You have the right to withdraw at any time, without giving a reason.
If you are selected to participate, you will be asked to bring a single past upsetting event which may be still be affecting you now. For example, if you have been in a road traffic accident in the past, you find that you feel anxious when driving now. If you were humiliated for expressing an opinion in the past, you may find it difficult to speak up in certain situations. These are just examples; any single traumatic event will be fine. If there is time, we may be able to process more than one event.
